Throughout Denys’ career, she has done many self-guided studies from some of the following teachings:  The Light of Yoga Society, The Self-Realization Fellowship, The International Yoga Association and The Bihar School of Yoga. Denys had attended several of Yoga Journal’s Midwest Yoga Conferences to maintain her continuing education.  Some of Denys’ favorite and most impressionable teachers in the U.S. have been David Swenson, Dave Stringer, Johnny Kest and Donna Farhi.

Denys became an ordained minister with The Universal Life Church in 1998 and is licensed in the State of Ohio to perform wedding ceremonies.

Over the years, Denys has held numerous workshops and retreats nationally and internationally.  She has traveled the globe spreading healing energy and sharing her life lessons.  The highlights of her yoga career have been teaching in Serbia, England, Italy, Costa Rica, India and Nigeria. She spent several years living in Costa Rica practicing yoga and massage.  Between 2006 and 2009, she co-hosted two adventure yoga and surfing retreats in Costa Rica.  Her dream is to open an international, alternative teaching and healing center.  Another project on the horizon is the launch of her new technique of practicing yoga in water, which she calls “WagaSM.

Denys received certification as a pilates instructor through the Power Pilates system in 2007 and teaches mat pilates and core fitness.

In 2007, Denys traveled for six months throughout India studying at several yoga ashrams.  During this time, she expanded her knowledge of Kriya and Raja Yoga, Osho and Vipasana Meditation as well as Yoga Trance Dancing. While in India, Denys committed herself to the Bhakti Yoga path and learned the highest form of yoga, Bhajans (devotional singing & Sanskrit chanting). She also had the honor of studying yoga directly with a Brahman priest and a Kriya master in Varanasi, India.

In 2009, Denys traveled again to India for another six month emersion into Indian culture and sacred teachings.  During this period, Denys furthered her studies of Osho's Dynamic Meditations in private and group training sessions with an Osho Master. Denys spent several months in the Himalayas in Dharamsala (the exiled home of His holiness, The Dali Lama) where she completed her International Teachers Training Program accredited through Yoga Alliance with over 500 hours of overall training in all aspects of yoga. Furthermore, during this time, she also took courses in Sound Therapy, learning the ancient practice of using vibrations of Tibetan Singing Bowls, chimes and symbols to create healing energy through sacred sound.

Denys also trained in Puttaparthi (the home of her beloved guru, Sai Baba) completing a 40-day intensive study program of Kriya Yoga and was authorized to initiate aspirants into this ancient, scientific path of enlightenment. At Prashanti Nilayam, Denys had the extreme blessing of spending several months in the daily practice of Bhakti Yoga receiving many of Sai Baba’s Dharsans and singing Bhajans several hours daily.

In February, 2010 Denys co-hosted a 10-day yoga retreat to Goa, India with 2 other highly trained teachers and authorized the participants 80 hours of training certificate accredited through Yoga Alliance.  She then went on to act as a “spiritual tour guide” arranging all aspects of travel and sight seeing of some of India's holiest sights, such as Hampi (the birthplace of Hindu culture), Varanasi (the place where pilgrims come to worship the Ganges River) and Bodgaya (the place where the Buddha attained enlightenment).

Denys' higher education has been primarily in biology and psychology.  As part of her undergraduate work in pre-med, Denys spent 2002 studying medicine at the prestigious University of Westminster in London, England.

For all that she knows and all that she does, Denys is eternally grateful to all of her gurus (inner and outer) and for all of the life lessons along the way.  Denys feels blessed to have been given the opportunity to experience so much and for having been led to so many Great Teachers.  She feels charged with a great responsibility to spread Their message.
